Yellowjacket Trail Moving Forward!
City staff held a pre-construction meeting with TXDOT, contractors, engineers, and the Ferris ISD to discuss the construction of the Yellowjacket Trail. The Yellowjacket Trail will be a 4 foot wide sidewalk that extends from the Ferris Junior High on FM 660 to the I-45 service road. This has been a highly anticipated project because this sidewalk will provide a safe place for students to walk to and from the Junior High. Currently, students who walk in this area use the shoulder of the road. The contractor estimates the project to break ground in four to six weeks with construction taking about three months. Construction will include barriers between the sidewalk and roadway in key areas, drainage improvements, and handicap accessible elements. Questions about the project should be emailed to Scott Metcalfe or by calling 972-842-2752.
